7v7 Border Battle

Recently I attended The Border Battle between Potenza Sports and Canada's Recruit Ready. As if those squads weren't enough, Minnesota Fit Elite Seven was there as well. Although this was just a scrimmage, the competitiveness was unvarnished. It's crazy to see 7 on 7 across the state grow at the rate it is. I really believe this is the future of recruitment. Here are a couple MN athletes that stood out to me:

Potenza's Daylen Cummings (Cenntenial): Cummings is a 2024 quarterback that started on one of the best teams in 6A last fall. I saw glimpses of what he looked like in mid-season form tonight. Making the right plays rather than constantly taking shots is something lots of young quarterbacks struggle with. Daylen has perfected this skill, however. Once he gets his consistency down Daylen will be one of the best QBs in the state and potentially the midwest.

Potenza's Tyler Nystrom (Mounds View): If you haven't heard of Tyler Nystrom you should do your research. The sophomore wideout had an impressive fall season. That's nothing compared to how he's playing right now. Every time the ball was in the air it seemed as if he was there. Nystrom also has some serious physical abilities. His height is only second to his alarming speed in my opinion.

MFES's Tayvin Smith (Osseo): Smith is a young QB from Osseo. Standing at 6' 1" and running a 4.95 40 the freshman looks like a varsity football player already. Was really astonished by his leadership on the field at this age. He has a lot to learn and some growing to do as far as the Xs and Os go, but I know this kid will be special.

Really enjoyed watching these guys compete. Planning on being in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area this weekend to watch Iowa's Back to Ballin tournament featuring tons of MN talent including MFES, Gameface, and Potenza.
