Teams to Watch and Top Performers

As the best week of Basketball in Minnesota continues here are some hoopers and squads you should keep your eye on:

Players:

Mitchel Jaskowiak (S) of GSL: Despite a first-round loss, the Idaho football commit dropped an impressive 37 pts against a tough Minneapolis North squad.

Jayden Livingston (J) of Totino-Grace: The junior guard came off the bench and brought a spark for the Eagles in their first game of state. He finished with 10 pts.

Goanar Tap (S) of St. Cloud Tech: The 6' 9" big man really stepped up for the Tigers against DLS. He finished with 10 pts and 6 Blks.

Teams:

Park Center: Arguably the best team in the state this year PC is on a mission. Leo Torbor (S) San Jose St commit dropped a game-high 20 pts in a win over Andover. He, along with D1 guards Braeden Carrington (UMN commit), Cody Pennebaker (uncommitted), and Cashimer Chavis (uncommitted, soph) look to lead this 1 loss team to a Chip.

Mankato East: A well-coached team is hard to beat. Especially one as talented as this. The obvious standout is BJ Omot (UND commit). Really everything you look for in a player with the ability to score at all levels and make plays on defense. He's backed up by stud defenders and rebounders Puolrah Gong and Jalen Hayes. Finally, there's Freshman guard Brogan Madson. I was unbelievably impressed by this kid's craftiness and ability to defend guards much bigger than him. He'll be special at this rate. I'm confident they'll be ready Thursday at noon vs TG.

Cherry: #5 seed Cherry is a team not too many know about but soon will. This small team is built around a family that goes by the Asuma's. Isaac, Noah, and Isaiah are all capable of competing at any level. They also are supported by Nick and Sam Serna. I like this team making a run in the 1A state tournament tomorrow.

Cretin-Derham Hall: Coach Kline Jr. has tuned this squad to peak to the right time. Personally, I would be terrified to go up against them right now. The state's Gatorade Player of the Year and Mr. Basketball finalist Tre Holloman is a must-see hooper. He's nearly averaging a triple-double which in turn makes the talent around him shine. Talent such as freak athlete Donavhan Cain, Big man Brandon Melchior, and Adam Tauer (son of UST coach John). Lucky for them they get to prove to the state how good they are Thursday against #3 Wayzata in a rematch of last year's championship.
