TC Senior Expo
Yesterday I was able to watch the TC Senior Expo held at Concordia St. Paul. The Expo was composed of 4 teams with a lot of unsigned talent across the metro area. Here are some guys who stood out to me on each team:
Red:
Hakeem Ford of Mpls Southwest
- Hakeem Ford is an athletic star that is capable of some amazing things. I see him as a natural leader on the court. This season alone he guided his SW team to some notable wins including one of the best in 2A Minneapolis North.
Muja Burton of Columbia Heights
- Burton played a solid game yesterday along with a solid season. In my opinion, he was one of the best shooters in the metro area this past season. He also fit in very well with his talented CH team and could this trend continue.
Benard Omooria of Osseo
- If you're looking for a little of both of the last two guys I listed, Omooria is your guy. A great shooter that can give you a spark of momentum. He also was a big leader on his Osseo team this year that were ranked top 10 most of the year as well as beating teams such as TG and Minnetonka.
Yellow:
Jake Butler of Minneapolis North
- Mr. Butler does things we don't see much of in modern-day basketball anymore. He shoots midrange sufficiently, is a hustler on defense, and rebounds very well. Due to his uniqueness, he can cause trouble for other teams to prepare.
Donovan Clinton of St. Paul Como
- DC is a freak athlete that will punish you if you jump with him. Between him and Amir Plair, this was one of the most talented Como teams I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to see where he goes.
Green:
Ayouba Berthe of Park Center
- I saw Berthe as the glue guy for the 4A champions Park Center this season. The things he does don't always show up on the stat sheet but that doesn't mean this kid isn't talented. A lot of times this year Coach Ware would task him with defending the other team's best player. Whether it be a guard, forward, or even center. This is never easy physically or mentally, yet Bethre always got the job done. This again was the case yesterday.
MJ Galimah of Coon Rapids
- In the past, Coon Rapids has struggled in the NWSC this was not the case this year, however. I think a large part of the team's success came from MJ. Yesterday he showed out on the offensive end putting up a team-high 11 pts.
Blue:
Terrence Brown of Columbia Heights
- I, along with the majority of the state can't seem to figure out what Brown isn't getting offers. He stands at 6' 1" but plays much bigger. In my eyes, he's the craftiest guard in the state. no one could consistently stop him from getting to the paint and when they did he would go ahead and shoot over you. That's just on the offensive end. TB is long and has a nose for the ball which causes frustration on any given guard. Did I forget to mention he led his team to an undefeated regular season? This kid is legit and needs to be given a chance.
Jamari Walker of Park CG
- Of all the players on display yesterday I thought Jamari Walker had the best physical build. A build that I am sure will translate perfectly at the collegiate level. Standing at an impressive 6' 6' he was big enough to overpower in the paint, but still athletic enough to run the floor like a guard. I think playing with another dominating big in Pharrel Payne (UMN commit) did some good and bad for him. Because Payne was so unstoppable a lot of eyes were on him this season which may have taken away from recruiting. On the other hand, when you compete with competition better than you, the most growth occurs. Wherever he lands I'm sure he'll be great.
Congrats to all seniors that participated in yesterday's game. Great to see all of them play one last time. Best of luck to whatever your future holds.
